I have 15 years of experience in IT industry after my Bachelor's in Engineering with Mechanical Engineering as major field of studay.

PERM ETA9089 has the following

Education : Bachelor's

Major field of studay : Computer Science, Information Technology or an equivalent techinical degree

Number of months experience required : 60 months

- Is Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering accetable as "equivalent technical degree" during I140 processing.

It generally depends on whether or not your employer considers it a relevant degree and can justify it to the DOL as such.

You may wish to consult a knowledgeable immigration attorney in regard to your case issues.

The USCIS generally interprets the LC language very narrowly. If you have an Engineering degree and Engineering was not specifically listed as a field of study, your employer may need to provide objective evidence that Engineering is considered a related technical degree as part of the I-140 filing.

Thanks for your replies. Can you please provide little more details on objective evidence from employer mean. Does he need to submit letter indicating why my degree is considered equivallent techinical degree during I140 processing?

My employer is from manufactuing industry and I support systems primarily with manufacturing background which require functional knowledge. That is one reason I was selected with my mechanical engineering background and IT experience.
