Travel with GC expiring

I have a conditional GC expiring Nov 16. I have heard if you would like to travel internationally one needs to have at least 6 months on their passport/Visa validity. Does that rule also applies to GC?

 

In other words if your GC is expiring in Nov 16 you can only travel till May 16 (leaving 6months valid on your GC). Appreciate your help.
