F1 Visa Stamping

Hi Sir,

 

I came to US on an L1 B Visa in Jul 2012. In May 2014, I enrolled for an MS program as a part time student.

 

In Apr 2015, I applied for F1 visa and 'change of status' from L1B to F1 Visa. Right now, I am converted into a full time student.

 

In Jun 2015, I quit my job. The same month, my L1B visa also expired.

 

Currently, my 'change of status' application is pending with the USCIS. I called them yesterday, and they said that the current queue is Dec 2014, so it will be a while before my application is processed.

 

I will be completing my MS in May 2016.

 

My question is;

1) Should I wait for my 'change of status' to get approved, or

2) Should I travel to India, and have my F1 visa stamped.

 

*Note - I haven't travelled to India since I am onsite, that is Jul 2012.

You can travel anytime. To enter US on F1 status you need a valid F1 visa & supporting documents.

yeah, I guess I want to know, since I have an approved change of status in hand, how better are my chances in a Visa interview in India.

 

In other words, can my visa still be rejected by interviewing office in India.

 

*I have already booked an appointment for F1 visa in India.

In your earlier post you mentioned that they were currently processing Dec 2014 cases, which is correct according to the timelines published in your case. I am just curious to know if the case was approved, since yours is an April 2015 filing

Yes, it got approved. Surprisingly they cleared all that queue.
