H1b extension and passport expiry

Hi,

 

I have applied for my H1 extension (I have approved I 140 and this is my 9 the year extension) on June 5th. Till now  USCIS website  shows "case received." My passport is expiring in December.

 

Will my passport expiry can affect the decision of my H1 extension.

 

Also, I cannot apply for my new passport until and unless I receive my approved I 797. My I-94 got expired on July 2015.

 

Any help is appreciated.
