How long should a person holding a B1/B2 visa stay out of the U.S. before visiting US again for 6 months.

My father was in the US last year and he spent 2 weeks short of 6 months assigned on his I-94. He left on Aug 8 2015. He is planning to visit US again in February 2016 . Is there a minimum time he needs to stay outside the country before he visits the US again ? I have heard conflicting reports about re-entering the US within a certain duration.

 

Helpful information by an attorney and/or someone who has gone through this situation will be appreciated.

A visitor obviously has to be more in his or her home country than in the US.

After a visit to the US, it is recommended to stay at least twice that time back home. In this case, that would mean to be at home for at least a year before visiting the US again.
