Passport renewal - Visa stamping

Hi all, 

I have a passport that is going to expire on March 19 th 2016. And I didn't realize it until after I booked my tickets to India which I will be leaving to India on November 26 th and returning on jan 2nd. I have to go to H1 visa stamping in the month of December. 

My question is if I go to Visa stamping with the passport that I have (which is going to expire in 4 months), would the US consulate give me the VISA or would they reject it. 

I can not apply passport in USA because the process would take longer. Now I am looking for option to apply passport in India after going there and then book Visa stamping dates. I don't know if this works. 

Can you please anyone have any suggestions on my issue. I am absolutely going crazy.

Try tatkal option. you will get your passport in 2-3 days (add another 2-3 for the mail).

I had recently applied for renewal in the normal process at SFO and got the new passport in less than 20 days (including the mail time)

Try to apply in india in tatkal. you get passport in 3 days. I was in same position as you and applied passport in india and went for stamping
