ramakvenk
Hey guys, This is a bit urgent, so I really appreciate any quick replies I can get! I have an approved I 140 and so my employer just renews my H1b every three years until I get my green card (after my priority date becomes current). Thankfully, I qualify for the drop box process and therefore don't need to do a visa interview. My question: Can I have my dad submit all the required documentation (including my passport) at the drop box location in Chennai? My plan is to remain in the US and just mail or send the documents he needs through a friend of mine who will be traveling to India soon. Are there any issues with this approach? For instance, do I need to be there in India to submit my fingerprints, etc.? Thanks in advance! RK Link to comment
jairichi
You are joking? You cannot send passport out of country by post. It is a criminal offence. You need to exit US. After that you can authorize anyone to submit documents on your behalf. Link to comment
ramakvenk
I looked at the last page on my passport and you are right, there's a warning section that says I'm not supposed to mail my passport out of country. Had no idea that it was illegal -- glad to know, so thanks for pointing it out. Link to comment
