Unpaid employment during STEM extension

Hi,

I worked as unpaid intern during 12 months OPT and first 7.5 months in 17 months STEM extension. Is that ok to work as unpaid intern or Do they consider as Out Of Staus for that time? but after that I worked as paid employee and got my H1 and started working in H1B.

Could any one please answer my Qs.
