mxd007
Me:- 7th year of H1-B. EAD approved. Waiting for PD to be current My Fiancée :- Naturalized Citizen of the US I DO NOT intend to file for citizenship based on the marriage i.e. I will continue to wait for my PD to be current via my current employer to file for GC. We are getting married at the end of the year. The wedding is going to be in India. Having said that my dilemma is where should I get my marriage registered? 1) Do I get married in the US first and then get married in India so that I have a marriage certificate from both countries? 2) Or should I just worry about getting a marriage certificate in the US only ? 3) Or should I just get a marriage certificate in India only? Also since my home town is NJ and hers is CA, does it matter if we get married in NJ or CA; if we have to obtain a marriage certificate in the US? Link to comment
cap-gap
you will need to follow special marriage act of india..last time I checked there was a 30 day waiting period before you get married.. if you are not gonna claim any marriage based immigration benefits, your other concerns are irrelevant..
