mv23 Posted September 8, 2015 Report Posted September 8, 2015 I have my H4 visa valid till Jan 2016 and is stamped in my passport. I changed my status to F1 early this year by applying for a Change of Status and have received the approval. I have not travlled outside U.S and do not have a F-1 visa stamped on my passport. Now I wish to go back to my H4 and was wondering if I could just travel to Canada or mexico and come back in H4? Is there a limit on the number of days I need to stay outside U.S? What will happen to the F-1 approval?
jairichi Posted September 8, 2015 Report Posted September 8, 2015 Just exit and enter US with a valid H4 visa and a copy of your spouse's I797. You can just cross the border and get this done quickly. For Canada you will need a visitor visa.
mv23 Posted September 9, 2015 Author Report Posted September 9, 2015 Thanks jairichi for the quick reply. Once I enter back in H4, will my F-1 be automatically become invalid?
