titaniumx Posted September 2, 2015 Report Share Posted September 2, 2015 I understand that as a H1b Worker you are supposed to work only for your sponsor. I have an office and my job does not require to work on client locations. Recently I have been contacted by individuals who are willing to donate for an open source project I own. I told them as long as I contribute my code for that project from US I won't be able to accept donations. However I am just curious, what if my Sponsor (a private US company) is willing to accept donations to that project, and then on their own discretion willing to give all or a portion of the donation to me? Would that be legal? Since technically its my Employer who would be paying me as part of regular paycheck. Link to comment
