Mexico entry just before H1-B expiry

Hi,

 

My H1-B expires on August 1st.

I am traveling to Mexico from July 29th- August 6th.

From Mexico i am traveling to Brazil.

 

I went to Mexican Consulate for a tourist visa, but i was told that i cannot be given a visa since my stamp has not already expired.

 

She also told me it is ok if i can convince the immigration officer that i will fly out of Mexico by showing my tickets to Brazil.

 

Is it ok to do so?

What are my chances of getting deported?
