Airport transit in Germany travelling on AP

Hi,

 

My husband is traveling from Greensboro (GSO), NC to Mumbai(BOM), India on Advance Parole document. His itinerary is:

ONWARD JOURNEY:
GREENSBORO-WASHINGTON-FRANKFURT-MUMBAI
 
RETURN:
MUMBAI-MUNICH-BRUSSELS-WASHINGTON.
 
Does anyone know if he need air transit visa in Frankfurt, Munich & Brussels? If yes, what is the procedure? Will he have to go personally to apply for the visa or he can mail his application?
