Shoplifiting conviction and visa application

I was charged with shoplifting  PC488 in California, did not had any jail time but had to pay fine & convicted .  I am applying for H1B extension . Is it possible to get visa at consulate after this issue ?

Does anyone got petty offence exception after CIMT at consulate stamping ? pls share

I know of a similar case except she was on H4, the case was dismissed through probation. During visa interview in India officer asked about the incident, she shared everything truthfully and she got the visa stamped.

thank you very much for the reply. i am travelling to india this week and returning next month. would there be any problems at the port of entry ? if the officer at poe asks if I really shoplifted what should I answer. i am asking this as my shoplifting charges were later downgraded to a municipal ordinance violation. as i am convicted of a different offense i am not sure what to answer. please advise

how do I handle the port of entry? my visa is getting expired next year and i am travelling to india this month. pls advise. though my conviction was for an ordinance violation (initially i was charged with shoplifting) which is not a criminal conviction i am a little worried abt poe

Did u plead guilty to shoplift charge to reduce to lesser charge?

If yes then u have admitted to the Offense of CIMT.
