J1 Waiver - NOS from Brazil

Hi All,

I'm from Brazil and just applied for a J1 Waiver from my home-country. It was a very confuse process. I have some questions...

1- When I sent my docs to DoS I forgot to send two self-addressed envelopes and sent just one (stupid work, I know!!!). Could it be a problem? My online status was updated this week and it says that my documents were received.

2- DoS received my documents on January 31 and it was online updated on Feb 9 (faster then I thought). The problem is, Brazilian Consulate sent my NOS to WRD in Washington DC on Dec 24 and till now no confirmation about receiving was showed up. Should I get worry? Who should I contact, DoS or Brazilian Consulate? I have the confirmation from Brazil saying it was sent to DoS.

Thanks

@blahblahblog

DoS has updated my status to all documents as received. The last update was the no objection statement from Brazilian Embassy and it was showed as received on Feb 25th. So, from that date I can start to count 6 - 8  weeks for the final WRD recommendation to USCIS. What about you? Any news? Please, let us know!

See ya!!

The status online still says:

"Currently, there is no information regarding the status of your case. If you would like additional information, please contact Public Inquiries at 212ewaiver@state.gov."

The lawyer sent the package sometime around Feb 13th, the DoS check was cashed on Feb 24th and the Brazilian embassy sent my NOS on Feb 24th. The website has no information, but they say it can take up to a month before they post the status online, so I guess we wait.

All these waiting times just make me very anxious! I'll keep using this thread to update my status if you don't mind, since I'm also seeking NOS from Brazil.

Hi All... As this forum has been so helpful on my process I'd like to share what just happened... As I posted above, I was trying to cancel my J1 Waiver petition and I just received an email from USDoS. Life is funny!!!! Good luck to all!!!!

Thank you for contacting the 212e Waiver Inquiries.

On April 9,2015, a “favorable” recommendation was made on your case.  Your case has been electronically forwarded to U.S. Citizenship & Immigration Services (USCIS) Vermont Service Center (VSC) where your J-1 waiver eligibility will be determined.  The Department of State no longer has jurisdiction over your case. A recommendation letter from the Waiver Review Division will be sent out to you shortly.

You may contact USCIS at (800) 375-5283.

We hope this information is helpful.

So far... Nothing. Docs forwarded by USDoS was received on April 22. I called them and it was said that it could take 4 months and there are no action I can do to make it faster. I have other job offer and we're waiting for it. Hopefully, USCIS will approve my petition!

Please keep us update on your side!
