Travelling to other country 3 months before expiry of H1B

Hi experts, my wifes H1B expires in the month of August 2015 and mine in October 2015, Can you please suggest good time(in which month) to apply for extension of H1B for both of us.

 

Can we both travel out of country for two weeks in the month of May? with or without applying for extension.?

Employer can file extension not more than 6 months before H1B expiry.

Traveling is not a problem for you.

Even a week is fine as long as an extension is filed. In your case few months is fine even without H1B extension filing.
