dharinij
I have done my Masters in biotechnology and bio-informatics in India. Im planning to do my Masters in Environmental engineering or Cell and molecular biology (STEM) in USA starting this Spring. Once I graduate, If my future employer from a IT Consulting firm is willing to offer me a computer programmer related position , will I have problem in getting H1B approval even though I took a masters program that comes under STEM category? I know I will try to find a job related to my field after graduation. Just in case if have to switch my career goal to find a H1B sponsor, I need to make sure there are no hurdles in between. Note: I have done fe computer courses in undergrad and have done my .NET certifcation Please advice. Appreciate anyone's help. Thanks, Link to comment
JoeF
Find a job in your field of study. Avoid consulting companies. And some computer courses or certifications are irrelevant. Link to comment
ashuneel
H-1B approval will be a problem. Even if you get by the approval it may come up again at visa stamping. Dont approach shady consulting firms and ruin your career. BTW have you already been admitted to spring semester as it may be too late to apply now for spring 2015. Link to comment

Certificates will not help you, if certificates are enough for a IT job then no one will try to get IT degrees from big universities. Link to comment
jairichi
Few computer/IT courses are not going to help. You need a minimum of 4 years bachelor's degree related to H1B profession. Link to comment
sagi85
First be clear with your career path and then choose your masters specialization. You are looking far ahead. Forget about H1B, if you do your masters in biotech and want to get into an IT consulting firm, your OPT will be rejected. Link to comment
