OPT for my second Masters First one was approved but not used

Hi,

I completed my first masters in 2010 and applied for OPT and got it approved. However I had to return to my home country due to personal reason and could not use my OPT even for a single day.

 

I am now back to US again on F-1 visa for my PhD.

 

I am planning to switch my line and therefore thinking of taking transfer to MS in Information technology and managment at UT Dallas.

 

My question is if I take a transfer will I be able to get an OPT on completion of the master course.

 

I heard that since it is going to be my second masters I wont be able to get OPT doesnt matter if I used the first OPT or not.

 

Some people are suggesting that I can claim my unused OPT during my first Masters.

 

Any help ?

That OPT is gone, you can't use it anymore. You can get another OPT only for a higher degree.

Nope, your OPT is gone. You cannot claim that.

That OPT is gone and you are no longer eligible for another OPT with another Masters.
