I-94 extension query

Hi,

 

  I-94 is expiring on March 2015 due to my passport expiry.  H1-B Visa stamped is valid till July, 2015 (in old passport). My max-out is Aug 2015.

I renewed my passport and trying to get my I-94 extended. 

Is it a feasible option to file an H1 B extension based on 365 days rule and there by getting my I-94 renewed.

My PD is May 2014. Can we file 1 year H1 B extension now or only after May 2015?

 

or,

 

the only option i have is to travel outside of US and come back for new I-94?
