Pls some one can help me make it clear for Legal status document on H4

I m on H1B status since 2months & my wife went for H4 visa from pak, they asked her your husband legal status doesnt show in our systemn so ask your husband send you legal status documents. though she showed I-797 approval form, I29 and my pay stuff. After getting extension of B1/B2 then applied H1B, do they asking for I-94 of extension? Is it legal document or some one have idea regarding legal status document kindly let me know it will be more then appreciated.
