Can the VAC Biometric appointment be done in USA?

Hi,

            I am in the process of scheduling an interview for h1b in India and one of the requirements is to have biometric fingerprinting and photograph taken at VAC location.

 

         Can this be done in the USA itself through USCIS's ASC locations or does the VAC(OFC) Appointment have to be scheduled and attended in the same country where I am applying for the U.S. visa?

For H1b, your appt is scheduled at US consulate (governed by DOS). USCIS ASC would not have access to DOS system to be able to link your fingerprinting to DOS issued bar code. So you have to go to VSC for bio-metrics / fingerprinting.

AFAIK, you'll be able to do that in India only.
