Travel on OPT after H1 approval DMV Issue

Can any one help answering below is my case

 

Iam F1 Student with OPT till OCT 25 and my H1 is approved with COS  on may 2 and travelled to India on May 12and returned on June  10th

and 2 weeks back that is on sept 18 i went to DMV with H1 I797A and DMV checked the I94 that is attached with H1B and they are not able to retreive the information then they raised ticket to DHS and i got a letter saying that i have lawfull presence .Today i went to DMV and showed the letter that i got and the officer said that they can only renew upto 60 days as suggested by DHS in thier database

 

My questions are

 

1) did my status dint change to H1 on OCT1 thats why they given just 60 day renewal of licence as grace period after OPT

2) or as i went to DMV before start date of my H1B resulted this

3) How do we find out that my status changed from OPT to H1

No point in going before H1B start date. Go and check now.

Thanks alot Jairichi,today i called Univ DSO she checked my SEVIS Status and status is "Completed" does it mean that my F1 Status ends and entered into H1 Staus

That is correct.
