Is pregnancy reason a strict no-no for applying extension of visitor visa?

Hi:

my parents,currently in US, wants to extend their stay beyond 6 months since my sister is expecting. I am reading everywhere that pregnancy and child birth are not valid reasons to request extension of visitor's duration of stay beyond 6 months. Can anyone please advise if this is true? If not, what are the other acceptable reasons?

Your parents can try but the possibility of rejection is high. We can't invent reasons for you.

Thats true..its not a valid reason and it will sure shot get denied..normal pregnancy is 9 months...better travel planning could have avoided the extension.

In my opinion, it's a valid reason, but successful extension of stay depends upon how you word it. Also, you must consider the risk associated with denial of extension.

The suspicion is that the parents would help in the household. And that isn't allowed on a visitor visa.

Lying to get an extension would make it even worse. A lie can result in a lifelong ban.
