Extension of visitor visa - is pregnancy reason a strict no no?

Hi:

my parents,currently in US, wants to extend their stay beyond 6 months since my sister is expecting. I am reading everywhere that pregnancy and child birth are not valid reasons to request extension of visitor's duration of stay beyond 6 months. Can anyone please advise if this is true? If not, what are the other acceptable reasons to request an extension of stay?

Your parents can try for an extension based on the stated reason but the chances of approval is less. No one will help you to invent a reason for you as everyone here supports truth.

Dont even try to LIE to the US Immigration officials..that would put them to a permanent ban to the United States.

 

Pregnancy is not a reason to extend stay for visitors.

In my opinion, it's a valid reason, but successful extension of stay depends upon how you word it. Also, you must consider the risk associated with denial of extension.

Generally speaking, for extension of stay the reason should be such that the person cannot fly bcos of that. Coming to your case, your parents can travel even if your sister is pregnant.
