Names in Passport, Birth Certificate, and Other documents...

Hi All,

I'll be getting married in Dec 2014 and I'll be filing H4-B for my spouse.

The question is regarding my spouse's first name in Passport, Birth Certificate, and other documents.

Currently, her firstname is 'aaaaaben' (according to Gujarati tradition) in her Birth Certificate and Passport. However, all other documents (school/university certificates, etc.) have only 'aaaaa' as her first name. (In Gujarat, 'bhai' is used for males, 'ben' is used for females)

I've the dilemma as to

a) whether we should get her first name changed to 'aaaaa' in her passport and birth-certificate so that we have same first name across all the documents. (and that is what we will use in marriage registration as well). Also, we'll use 'aaaaa' in filing DS160 if we go this route.

OR

b) leave the firstname as it is in all the documents and get a marriage certificate with 'aaaaaben' and use the same while filing the DS-160. (So we'll have 'aaaaaben' as first name in Passport, BC and MC while all other docs will have 'aaaaa' as first name)

Will option b have any impact in GC filing down the road?

Thank you for your time and inputs.

Cheers,

Hiren
