karthikvarma.m
Hello, My brother came to US few weeks back, he got two offers one from University of Findlay and University of Central Missouri. He initially thought he will go to Finally and later decided to go to Missouri as soon as he stepped into US he directly went there. He got his Sevis transferred and but the old university(Uni of Findalay) asking him to pay 2500 otherwise they will pass this to collection agent to collect the Money. Is this legal or the University is trying to just take Money from students. He did not sign any agreements and he didn't even go to Uni, why would they ask students to pay such a big amount for nothing? can some one help me with this? NEW STUDENTS ONLY An Administrative Fee of $2500 will be charged to any student who transfers prior to their initial registration or prior to the completion of their first term/session. This is not a fee to transfer the SEVIS record. Your SEVIS record will be transferred without payment. Please know that withholding payment will cause your account to be turned over to a collection agency.Payment can be made in CASH OR MONEY ORDER ONLY to The University of Findlay.Money orders can be sent to: Link to comment
jairichi
I believe your brother has to pay that amount. To be double sure he needs to check it with an attorney. Link to comment
JoeF
He filed an application with them. All this should have been listed on the application. If it has, he is bound by it, since he signed the application. Link to comment
rahul412
That doesn't make any sense. Admin fee of 2500?? Link to comment
JoeF
That doesn't make any sense. Admin fee of 2500?? Obviously, that is a fee to discourage people from switching universities immediately. Pretty much all the people who signed up with frauds like TVU, HGU, EyeTeeYou, etc. got legitimate admission to another university, and upon arrival in the US, immediately switched to the fraud. They wouldn't have gotten visas to attend any of the fraud "universities". Link to comment
