W2 and 1099

I am working for a small company on a h1. Recently I was offered a share of profits from the same company. If I continue to do the same job can I get the extra pay on a 1099 in addition to my regular pay on a w2, without harming my status or GC process?

How would a profit share become a 1099? Typically we do profit shares either through a 401(K) or through bonuses (W2) for employees. Partners would receive K1 for their share of profits.
