Tjgarla
A computer glitch in a key U.S. Department of State (DOS) database is causing delays in the issuance of visas and passports at U.S. consulates around the world. According to the DOS, "[t]he Department of State Bureau of Consular Affairs is currently experiencing technical problems with our passport / visa system. This issue is worldwide and is not specific to any particular country, citizenship document, or visa category. We apologize to applicants who are experiencing delays or are unable to obtain a passport, Consular Report of Birth Abroad, or visa at this time. We are working urgently to correct the problem and expect our system to be fully operational again soon." MurthyDotCom will post additional details as soon as more information becomes available. ly6
Hello everyone, Here is an update that might help some of you who have travel plans. I had my interview on 07/22. When asked about the plans to travel back to US, I told VO that I had planned to go back the coming Sunday. So, I was given a slip to pick my passport from the US Consulate on friday and was also told that they will let me know if it gets delayed. On Friday morning, my US contact got a call from the consulate saying that the systems are still not working and can pick my passport without the stamp if I plan to travel or can choose to leave the passport with the consulate. I had been to the Consulate on friday 07/25 to weigh my options on taking my passport back and leaving to my home country for a while. I was taken to the 20th floor again and the officer told me that they are hoping to get the passports out by Monday/Tuesday next week. But if there is a plan to travel, we can choose to take the passports back and get back to the Vancouver consulate 2 days before going to US for getting it stamped.(Hoping that the email will be received by then that the systems are up and running) Link to comment
sriram302
Latest update from DOS Site: As of July 27, the Department of State has made continued progress on restoring our system to full functionality. As we restore our ability to print visas, we are prioritizing immigrant cases, including adoptions visas. System engineers are performing maintenance to address the problems we encountered. As system performance improves, we will continue to process visas at U.S. Embassies and Consulates worldwide. We are committed to resolving the problem as soon as possible. Additional updates will be posted to travel.state.gov as more information becomes available. Link to comment
