Trip out of US to get new I-94

Hi,

Me ( on H1-B visa)and my wife (dependent H4 visa) came to Dallas, TX on April 2014. My visa is valid till oct-2015. but we got the I-94 only till July 2014 as my passport expires in July month.

 

Now, i got new passport and need to extend both of our I-94. we decided to make a short trip outside US and re-enter. From Texas, which will be the best place to go out and re-enter ? (Mexico / Bahamas / Canada .... ???)

 

after seeing the forums looks like Mexico will be the nearest option for me, but do i need a visitor visa to enter mexico ? which port of mexico do i need to go ?

can i visit and re-enter on the same day ? is it by road or air travel ? any one of you tired this option before ?

 

Please can someone give more information and suggestions. we are running out of time. Your help will be very mych appreciated .

I believe you will  not need a Mexico visa if you have a current valid US visa (confirm with others). You can just cross the border and get your new I94. Remember you need to ask for one. Go by road.
