vinod1981
Hi all, I promised my self i would so this if i get visa stamped. I got arrested for shop lifting in 2012 in Virginia. Case was dismissed for lack of evidence. I had to travel to India last month. With no choice, i dared to travel. I chose Chennai consulate to attend visa. Visa officer asked couple of questions about my work and then brought up my arrest record. I explained him what happened ( I told him truth as is) and gave him court final disposition letter. He read that and started typing something on his system. After few mins he said golden words " Visa approved". At port of entry, i was sent for secondary inspection. I was made to sit in a room for 30 mins or so. Then was called for second inspection. Another officer asked me what happened.I repeated the story. He smiled and said OK, stamped on my immigration form and sent me into USA. My suggestion as long as your crime does not fall under CMIT, you should be fine. Tell the truth and carry all the documents. Link to comment
