Travel after h1b extension - Please help

Hi All,

 

My current h1b is valid until 9/8/2014 and my visa stamp on passport is also valid until then.  My company filed for extension and it got approved starting from 9/9/2014 to 9/8/2017.

 

 

I am planning to travel to India from 8/9/2014 to 8/22/2014. 

 

 

Now, i am looking to apply for h1b visa during this trip so that i can have the stamp until 9/8/2017.

 

1.  When i apply for visa, will my previous one get cancelled?

 

2. If so, can i enter USA on 8/22 with this new visa for which the h1-b petition is valid from 9/9 ?  

 

3. If so, will i be able to work until 9/8 based on my old I-797 which is valid until then?

 

Please help..immigration matters are becoming more & more complicated the longer you stay in this country :(

1. Yes, possible.

2. If approved it will be stamped with the date it was issued with validity from date of issue.
