Hi All,

I am very glad to say that my H1B visa has been approved this morning (5/28/14) in Calgary, AB, Canada. I just wanted to share my experience from the visa interview. It has been a smooth process right from that start as you might have already read from the other threads.

Step 1: A quick check on the DS-160 and passport at the entrance of the consulate.

Step 2: Security check on things that we are carrying by the security personnel.

Step 3: Another quick check on the DS-160, I-797 and passport, where all three of them are bundled with a rubber-band and a green token is issued which is used by the security personnel to escort us to the Visa interview area on the 10th Floor of the same building.

Step 4: Another security check on the 10th floor (similar to that in the airports) and a Visa token is issued. This time the token is for the actual visa interview :)

Step 5: After proper verification of the DS-160, I-797, passport in the Visa interview area you will need to wait for your turn. You will be given a booklet at this time with the info on rights of an employee and some other useful info.

With an quick intro on the Visa interview process above...here are the questions that were asked by the Visa Officer (VO) during my interview:

1. Have you been here on a Canada visit Visa?

2. Which was your first Visa to enter the US?

3. What is your highest level of education?

4. Where did you pursue your degree from?

5. What was your sepcialization in the degree?

6. Do you work at a client location?

7. Who is the client and what do they do?

8. What is your role at the client?

9. Who pays you?

10. Do they pay you on time? Have there been any issues working with your employer?

After answering all the above questions in a short and simple way, the VO said that my Visa has been approved (and scanned by finger prints); VO also said that I shall wait for 3-5 business days to receive my passport from the Loomis branch (postal service) that I selected during booking the visa interview appointment. In addition, instructions to track my passport were also provided by the VO.

Thanks for viewing this post...

Good luck for the future Visa aspirants!

Adios :)

Congratulations on your visa.

My wife had an interview at Calgary for as well and she got visa too.

I was checking the status at CSC but couldn't find anything. Could you check yours and let me know if you could see any status change on your home page.

The reason I am concerned is because my wife's home page doesnt say anything about status (e.g. Admin processing or Issued). All it says is that

You currently have no appointment scheduled.

I was expecting to see at least some status after her visa interview.

Thank you in advance.

I see the same message on my "Applicant Summary" page as you do. And I have been checking my visa application status here:

https://ceac.state.gov/CEACStatTracker/Status.aspx ; where it says "Administrative Processing".
