F1 visa expiring in August 2015

Hi All,

 

I am on F1 visa which is expiring on 07/2015. I just graduated and will start working on OPT. I am not sure what my status would be after 1 year. My OPT is from June 2014 - June 2015. Meanwhile i can try for H1 B visa or OPT extension. How does my Visa expiry date affect my legal status here? Will i be still able to work after Aug 2015 if i get either H1 B accepted or OPT extension for another year.

Legal status in US is determined by I94 and not visa. Visa is just an entry document.

Visas are required for entry. As long as you have a valid I-94 and meet the requirements of the status you are in, an expired visa has no effect on your stay once you are inside the US.
