Consultancy asking me to sign an post dated cheque

I am in OPT and when I tried to join a recruiting company,They are asking me to provide me a post dated cheque to make sure that I will get marketed only with that consulting company,Is that legal and can they sue me if i go with other employer if i get a good job  offer?

Do not do this. Either find a legitimate job or return home where you can get a job easily with your US degree.

No that's not legal. Why do they need a post dated cheque for marketing??

Find another employer. Forget this FRAUD employer.
