My mother's name in her passport is slightly different from that in my father's port (spouse's name) . The family name is same but given name has one character different.  I am planning to apply for visitor visa for both of them. Is this going to be a problem. Please advise.

It will not be an issue. But, better get it corrected.

That's not a big deal.

BTW You can't apply for ANY US visa. Let them do it by themselves.
