On OPT -H1B Approved- can I apply H4 ? Still has OPT until Dec

Please help me.

I am working on my OPT currently (less pay),I have my OPT until Dec 4th. I appled for H1B visa through a consultancy and H1B got approved(Starts from Oct 1st). Still in my OPT job.

1. Do I have to quite the current job from Oct 1st?or continue untill dec?

2. Lets say if I dont get the project in oct, I will be out of status, So can I parallely apply for H4 visa now and use my H1B when I get the project. ?

Pls pls pls help me. I am so confused.
