J1 waiver-when is 'sponsor view' asked for?

Hello All.

 

I have recently applied for J1 waiver via No Objection route.

 

I have following question:

 

I do not have any 'direct' US government funding.

 

However, my adviser has NSF grant from which he pays all postdocs and PhD students.

 

Will a sponsor view be asked even if the funding on my DS2019 is from ''University of xyz" and not from NSF, NIH or any other USG funding agencies?

 

Need suggestions on this.

Hi, How did your waiver go? I am also funded similar to you (through my PI's NSF grant) but I marked in the DS3035 that I am receiving US government funds. I think I made a mistake and should have just checked the box 'No' instead. :-(
