H1-B & OPT Extension question

Hello,

Here are the details of my case. Please help me in this regard.

 

Applying H1-B visa on : April 1st, 2014

OPT Expiry Date         : May 31st, 2014

 

My degree is eligible for STEM extension. I am wondering if I have to apply for STEM extension BEFORE or at the SAME TIME or AFTER applying for H1-B application? What would be the best dates for applying STEM extension?

 

I read an email saying "You can apply for STEM extension up to 120 days before your current OPT end date." Does this mean I can apply anywhere from 120 days before to right the day before of OPT expiry date?

 

Please let me know if anything needs more clarifications. Thanks!
