sumsha
I am currently in India and holding a H1-B petition valid till Dec-2015. I have already consumed 3 years 9 months on my H1 visa. I am planning to go for Masters and got an admit from a reputed US university. I will go for my F1 visa stamping in India around May 2014. After completion of my course (it will end in May 2016), will my future employer have to apply for COS from F1 to H1? or Will I be exempted from the H1 cap and reclaim the remaining duration on my H1 petition? I am going for a STEM course so I will be eligible for 27 months OPT. Is it a good idea if my future employer do COS when I am in second year of OPT? Link to comment

It would be better if an employer files a cap exempt H1B petition after you complete your OPT. Link to comment
