H1B to F1 with a gap between the statuses

Hi,

 

I am currently on H1B visa and visa is valid till Sept 2014.

I want to go back to school and I have been admitted into a good school for Fall 2014 (Start date August 2014). I have the I20 from the school.

 

I would like to quit my job by March end and spend some time with my sister who is in the USA and then go back to India for my visa stamping in June.

 

What are my options?

Can I convert from H1B to a visitor visa for now (march to may) and then back to F1 in June/July?

Or can I apply for Change of Status from H1B to F1 in March with the I20 that i got from my school? Can i leave job once I apply for change of status? If so then can i stay in the US till june once the change of status is approved?

You need to change to B2 and reenter with F1 stamping.  Remember you must enter closer to the time school starts than June
