Im a Chemical engineer, am i eligible for Software job in USA?

Im a chemical engineer graduate from India, and having IT experience of 8 years, currently working with my 4th company it's a CMC level 5. currently Im in India.

 

I want to work in USA, so that I require a H1B visa, but i know that my educational evaluation is required that whehter my profile suits the job or not.

 

Now my question is, whether I will be eligible for H1B visa for a software engineer or not?

 

Earlier I heard that few people had got H1B visas with non-IT educational background also. So i think there should be a way to get visa, could i know what is that way?

 

Please help me on this.

You are not qualified by training to be a "software engineer"; however, some very specialized IT positions within the chemical industry might fit your education and experience.

 

I suggest that you look not for a general software job but a position similar to that you have now for best chance of approval..
