Alien Registration Number was changed? What does it mean?

Hi everyone,

 

Some weeks ago I got an RFE from USCIS asking for the correct E-verify number. I consulted a lawyer and submitted the correct E-verify number with a cover letter and the first page of MOU to USCIS. The tracking online then changed my case to RFE response review but today it changed to:

 

"your Alien Registration Number was changed relating to your I765, APPLICATION FOR EMPLOYMENT AUTHORIZATION"

 

I wonder what this means?

The A-Number is basically the index of your file at USCIS. Sometimes they have two files for one person, and they may consolidate that into one file with one A#.
