kaustubh_a
I was in US on H1B in 2008 from employer A. However I came back to my country in 2010 for higher education and quit my employer A. The visa has obviously expired. Now after education I have joined employer B. Is it possible for my new employer B to just transfer / extend my H1B or does he need to file it fresh (like a normal H1B application). Is my previous H1B visa of any use or is it completely invalid by now? Link to comment

Either employer applies a cap exempt H1B petition anytime and on approval you would get 6 years - time spent in US on H1B or files a cap subject H1B petition in April 2014 and on approval you would get 6 years with a start date from 1st Oct 2014.
