I have a pending I-485 & EAD. Can I take an unpaid leave of absence and stay in the U.S. for 3 months?

I know that it is a problem to take an unpaid leave of absence and stay in the U.S. for 3 months but I have a pending I-485 and EAD to cover it. I should be fine?
