panache26 Posted September 8, 2011 Report Share Posted September 8, 2011 My i485 was recently filed and I am currently under OVDI scheme to amend my tax returns and file my delinquent FBAR's ? I am having to amend the taxe returns and file FBAR's at this time under OVDI. I have been negligent and failed unknowingly to show my foreign income but have not been willful in conduct. Does this cause any issue for adjudication of the i485 petition ? Does that still mean that there is an issue as OVDI is a self disclosure by the taxpayer and is not initiated by IRS ? What will be the answer for question 2 on 485 form which talks about violation of law and fine ? Does OVDI mean a YES as an answer ? Link to comment
Belle Posted September 9, 2011 Report Share Posted September 9, 2011 Taxes don't impact green card petitions. I think you should not owe anything to the Federal government when you apply for citizenship, but nothing about the green card. Link to comment
