Out of US for more than 3 months on STEM OPT

Hi Experts,

 

I have question about a situation that one my friend's is going thru.

 

My friend traveled to India 3 months ago on a month's leave but had to extend the leave due to health condition by another 2 months. Working in a reputed IT firm as a full time consultant and is still on the payrolls.

My questions are

So what kind of problems might creep up at port of entry ?

What documentation should be carried along ?

The destination is Chicago, IL, however the shortest flight times include Baltimore, MD and IAD, Washington as the POE's. What is the best suggested.

All you need is employment letter and valid VISA. Make sure you carry your I20 and OPT card.

I believe your friend being outside US for more than 90 days is considered unemployed during OPT period and thus loses his OPT. I might be wrong.
