I 94 renewal after new passport

Hi

I know this topic and options have been discussed quite a lot in this forum but thought of finding the latest experience if anybody had (changes related to I-94 automation being one factor).

 

So I had my L1 visa stamped in Ottawa during Jan 13 and while immigration at POE, the date on my I-94 (I still have the paper one) was as per the passport exipration date. Now, I have my passport renewed and am planning to travel to Jamaica for a quick weekend getaway and returning back to obtain a new I-94.

 

Questions I have:

1. Do the airline staff now take our paper I-94?

2. A slightly different question than above, Do the airline staff take I-94 if travelling to Jamaica?Do we need to pursuade them to take it?

3. If airline staff do not take the I-94, do I get a new one issued at the POE while returning from Jamaica?

 

Hoping someone who has recently taken a trip to Jamaica/ Carribean islands can share his/her experience on the topic.
