What could be done so that my wife can study/work? Thank You Your spouse can study on H4. To work she needs to qualify for a H1B job and have to find an employer willing file a H1B petition. catx
On a H-4 visa your wife is free study, and does not need to do anything extra other than providing a copy of her valid H-4 visa and associated I-94 card to the school (and comply with any other requirements by the school for international students). On a H-4 visa you wife cannot work in any capacity whatsoever, even remotely / from home, for an overseas company, without pay, etc. She can only be a volunteer where other persons are also volunteering, such as at a church or similar chartable organization. t75
She cannot work. She can go to school. Taxes depend on your salary. THere is no way to accurately answer your question. At high incomes, state plus federal taxes approach 50% of gross income in some states. Link to comment
