H4 Travel to India during H1 B extension pending

Hi -

 

Below is my case.

 

I'm on H1 valid until Jan 2014 (visa and i94)

My wife and kid are on H4 which is also valid until Jan 2014 (visa and i94)

 

My employer has applied for h1 extension along with h4.

 

if my family travel outside US during Feb 2014 i.e visa and i94 expired but h1 extension still in progress.

would it impact them in any way. I know that, they can come back to US only when my h1 is approved. 

 

I have learnt that, it should be okay for h4 to travel when an extension is still pending, but would like to get it confirmed.

Your family can travel outside US when extension is pending. For H4 visa stamping a copy of your extension approval notice is needed.
