Change of status from H1 to B2. Perm pending

Hello All

 

My H1 visa expires 01 Feb 2014 and my perm is pending. If I apply for a COS to B2 (I539) before my H1 expires and a decision on B2 is pending after my H1 expires, can I continue to stay or should I leave the country?

 

In case my B2 was denied, how long do I have to leave the country?
